Welcome to the New VRCC Website

The Vision Research Coordinating Center (VRCC) was established in 1993 as a function of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, in collaboration with the Division of Biostatistics.

In addition to a number of research efforts, core projects, and faculty & residents studies, the VRCC manages data collection and analysis for two large-scale multi-center clinical trials sponsored by the National Eye Institute.

Effective June 1, 2010, the SITT data entry system will change from Teleform to the REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) web-based, data entry and study management system. This change is part of the transition of the Statistical and Data Coordinating Center to Washington University in St. Louis.

The REDCap system will make data entry more efficient and facilitate study management. Routine queries are received as you enter data, reducing the need to retrieve records and revisit the same form later. Corrections are confirmed by the system immediately. REDCap allows you to view all site CRF’s entered in the database, including those submitted to MMRI.

The REDCap system is a secure, password-protected system. Each individual who enters and/or views SITT data needs to complete both of the forms:

1. Request for REDCap User Account.
2. Request for Sidedoor Private Web Certificate.

Fax or email to Kevan Essmyer at your earliest opportunity - but no later than Wednesday, March 31st. Note that each form requires the signature of the SITT site Principal Investigator. We will notify you by e-mail when your account is set up. We think you will like REDCap. We will provide training in the use of REDCap in April and May 2010. You can learn more about REDCap by visiting the website: http://www.biostat.wustl.edu/redcap.
